2026 Municipal Elections
We are creating a non-partisan platform for informed local decision-making — bringing together residents, business leaders, and candidates in a way that’s accessible, respectful, and community-driven.
important election dates
May 1 – Nomination, Registration, and Campaign Period Begins
Aug 21 (2 PM) – last day to submit or withdraw a nomination
Sept 1 (4 PM) – voter’s list will be made available to certified candidates, upon request
Oct 5 – advanced online voting begins at 12pm
Oct 14 – the first advanced poll (in-person voting) will be held on Wednesday, October 14 from 10am – 8pm at the Major Refrigeration Peach King Centre.
Oct 17 – the second advanced poll will be held on Saturday, October 17 from 10am – 6pm at the Major Refrigeration Peach King Centre.
Oct 26 – election day. In-person voting will be available from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Oct 27 – declaration of results. Official results for the 2026 Municipal Election will be posted on the Town of Grimsby’s Website.
Nov 14 – the 2022-2026 Council Term of Office officially ends.
Nov 15 – the 2026-2030 Council Term of Office officially begins.
Nov 23 – The first formal meeting of the new Term of Council will take place.

We officially signed the Elect Respect pledge on January 13, 2026 ahead of the 2026 municipal elections to help build a better future for our Chamber, business and resident communities. Endorsement of the Elect Respect resolution is explicitly non-partisan. It does not support or oppose any political party, candidate, or policy position. It focuses instead on how dialogue occurs, emphasizing civility, professionalism, and respect, regardless of differing views. Learn more here.
