Grimsby Chamber’s position on Niagara Order under Section 22

Niagara Public Health issued an order under Section 22 of the Health Protection and Promotion Act, introducing new restrictions on food and drink premises in the Niagara Region.

Our Position:

The Grimsby & District Chamber of Commerce supports the rescinding of the recent Section 22 order, which has placed additional restrictions solely targeting the Food & Beverage industry in the Niagara Region. We strongly encourage all levels of government to make data-driven decisions, decisions that encompass all sectors shown to be contributing significantly to the spread of COVID-19, and that the data behind future restrictions be made public.

We urge all citizens and businesses in Niagara to be part of actively stopping the spread of COVID-19: wear a mask, maintain physical distancing, and practice excellent hand hygiene. And, support your local businesses in a safe, responsible, and respectful manner.
