Grimsby Glows 2025: Proud to sponsor & proud to participate
We were thrilled to have been part of another Grimsby Glows Pumpkin Parade, hosted by the Rotary Club of Grimsby in collaboration with the Town of Grimsby. The Government of Canada has begun a second phase of public consultations on the Canada–United States–Mexico Agreement (CUSMA). The deadline for comments is November 3, 2025.

Wow, what another unforgettable night celebrating excellence in business!
Our third consecutive Business Excellence Awards took place on Thursday, October 23, 2025, and was an incredible evening filled with energy, connection, and community pride. With over 100 guests — our largest turnout since re-launching the awards three years ago (thank you attendees!) — the night was a true reflection of the strength and spirit of Grimsby’s business community.
It was inspiring to see everyone in the room connecting, sharing stories, and celebrating one another both before and after the awards presentation. The sense of camaraderie was so strong, it felt like the connections were just as important as the awards themselves, and that’s truly a testament to what makes this business community so special.
We want to congratulate, once again, all of our award winners and runners-up:
We also want to extend our gratitude to the team at Gizio Banquet Centre, who once again provided flawless service and a delicious buffet that everyone enjoyed.
Special thanks to Justin Iacoboni and Daniel Vandersteen for guiding us seamlessly through the evening, and to our volunteers and board members who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make every detail come together perfectly.
Hosting this event during Small Business Week makes it all the more meaningful. It’s a time to reflect on the power of small businesses and the entrepreneurs who bring vision, authenticity, and heart to our town.
We’re already looking forward to next year’s awards! Stay tuned for the 2026 nomination period. We can’t wait to continue celebrating the incredible talent that makes Grimsby amazing. Cheers!

Connections On Tap: Building Community, One Conversation at a Time
Our very first Connections On Tap event took place this week, and we’re thrilled with how it turned out. With a strong turnout and a mix of both familiar faces and many new ones, the evening was exactly what we hoped it would be — a chance to spark meaningful conversations and create connections in a relaxed, authentic way.
Our new Connections On Tap events are designed to offer more than just an after work social hour. They are about naturally building relationships, getting to know other business owners in our community, and finding inspiration that each person can carry back into their own business. By creating a space where conversations flow organically, we help to nurture the kind of connections that truly matter. The ones that can lead to new ideas, collaborations, and confidence in moving forward!
We’d like to extend our gratitude to Teddy’s for being such generous hosts. It was the perfect atmosphere for conversation, and the 1/2 price wings deal was the icing on the cake (and the wings were delicious as always)!
Thank you to everyone who joined us. Your presence and openness made the night a success, and we look forward to seeing how these new connections continue to grow.
PS – STAY TUNED for more details about our next Connections On Tap happening in late November. It’s going to be holiday-themed, full of cheer, and hosted at a different Grimsby pub location. We can’t wait to see you there!

MESSAGE FROM THE GRIMSBY & DISTRICT CHAMBER OF COMMERCE: NATIONAL DAY FOR TRUTH & RECONCILIATION
A PATH TO UNITY & PROSPERITY
Today, our nation observes the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Join us in wearing orange and continuing to educating yourself; read more below.
Every September 30, we honour the children who never returned home and survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process.
We stand in solidarity with Indigenous communities across Canada, acknowledging the painful history and the resilience of our Indigenous brothers and sisters. And we recognize the importance of listening, learning, and taking meaningful action to promote healing and understanding. We will continue to commit to fostering an inclusive and equitable business community, where Indigenous voices are valued and heard.
We encourage you to wear orange today – a symbol of the stripping away of culture, freedom and self-esteem experienced by Indigenous children over generations.
In the vast tapestry of Canada’s history, the profound and enduring contributions of Indigenous peoples are woven into the very fabric of our nation. Their rich cultures, languages, and traditions have shaped the landscape we call home. Yet, it is an undeniable truth that this relationship has been marred by historical injustices, colonization, and the systemic oppression of Indigenous communities. The residential school system in Canada served to eliminate Indigenous cultures. The impacts that this system had on Indigenous peoples were profound and continue to this day.
The following are just some examples of the impacts residential schools had (and continue to have) on Indigenous peoples:
Loss of culture, identity, and language: Children who attended residential schools were forbidden from speaking their language and practicing their cultural traditions.
Physical, mental, and sexual abuse: Many Indigenous children suffered physical, mental, and sexual abuse at the hands of school staff.
Loss of family and community ties: Children were forcibly removed from their families and communities in an effort to assimilate them into Canadian culture.
Intergenerational trauma: The trauma experienced by Survivors of residential schools has passed down through generations and can be seen in numerous ways.
Loss of land and resources: Assimilation policies, residential schools being one of them, led to further loss of Indigenous lands and resources.
Health and socio-economic disparities in comparison to non-Indigenous Canadians.
Today, as we navigate the complexities of our multicultural society, the call for Indigenous truth and reconciliation reverberates more powerfully than ever before. The importance of this journey cannot be overstated, for it touches the core of our national identity and resonates deeply within our hearts. But why is Indigenous truth and reconciliation so vital, and how can we connect with local initiatives? Moreover, what role does it play in the world of business?
The Significance of Indigenous Truth & Reconciliation
Acknowledging the painful truths of our history is not an act of blame but a step toward healing. It is a means of recognizing the resilience and strength of Indigenous communities, while also paving the way for a more inclusive and equitable future for all Canadians.
Embracing truth and reconciliation means fostering a resurgence of Indigenous cultures, languages, and traditions. This, in turn, enriches our national identity and deepens our understanding of the diversity that defines us.
Trust is the cornerstone of any prosperous society. Through genuine efforts at reconciliation, we can rebuild trust between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians, forging a path towards greater unity and solidarity.
Connecting with Local Initiatives
Seek out local Indigenous organizations, community events, and cultural centres. Engaging in dialogues, attending workshops, and participating in cultural events are meaningful ways to connect with your local Indigenous community.
Empower Indigenous entrepreneurs and businesses by seeking out their products and services. Your support can stimulate economic growth within Indigenous communities.
Many Indigenous organizations rely on volunteers and donations to carry out their important work. Contributing your time or resources can make a significant difference.
The Business Imperative
Businesses that actively support Indigenous truth and reconciliation initiatives demonstrate a commitment to ethical business practices. This fosters a positive corporate image and resonates with socially conscious consumers.
Engaging with Indigenous communities can lead to a more diverse and inclusive workforce. By embracing Indigenous perspectives, businesses can tap into a broader talent pool and drive innovation.
Indigenous communities represent a significant market segment. By building meaningful relationships with these communities, businesses can access new markets and foster long-lasting customer loyalty.
Indigenous truth and reconciliation is not merely a moral obligation; it is a pathway to a stronger, more united, and prosperous Canada.
By connecting with local initiatives, we can take meaningful steps towards this goal, ensuring that the voices and contributions of Indigenous peoples are not only heard but celebrated. In the business world, this journey is not just a societal obligation; it is an opportunity to build stronger, more sustainable enterprises that reflect the values and aspirations of our diverse nation. In embracing Indigenous truth and reconciliation, we embrace a brighter future for all Canadians.

Our latest Chamber Spark event was one for the books — in fact, it was our largest yet! With close to 60% of attendees being brand new faces — either new Chamber members or prospective members curious to learn more — the evening was full of fresh energy, new connections, and meaningful conversations.
These events have quickly become one of our most popular ways to bring businesses together. They’re designed to do two things: Help you learn more about the benefits of Chamber membership Give you the chance to share your business, practice your pitch, and make valuable connections with others
It’s more than just networking — it’s about building relationships that matter.
Special Thanks
Tammy from Train2Empower Fitness, our Chamber Spark partner, reminded us why these events are so powerful. As she shared, Chamber Spark isn’t about “finding your next client”, it’s about building a network you can trust, so you’re ready to refer and connect others when the opportunity arises. That’s what a real community looks like, and we’re grateful for her leadership and insight.
Justin from Verve Mortgages, Chamber Board Member, helped lead the evening’s discussion with warmth, energy, and his signature positivity. He spoke highly of Rebecca, our Executive Director (we promise we didn’t pay him to say those things!), and set the tone for a welcoming environment where every attendee felt included. His consistency and dedication to the Chamber are deeply appreciated. Chamber Spark is all about creating a space where businesses can: – Make new connections in a low-pressure environment – Learn how a Chamber membership provides real value – Strengthen their ability to advocate for their own business while also supporting others
The turnout, the conversations, and the mix of seasoned and new members proved that the Chamber Spark model is working — and we couldn’t be more excited to see it continue to grow.
Save the Date
If you missed this session, don’t worry, we have another Chamber Spark coming up in November at Boone Dog Office Spaces. It’s the perfect opportunity to make meaningful connections before heading into the new year.
Thank you to everyone who joined us on Wednesday evening for this memorable event. We hope you left with at least one new connection, a handful of business cards, and plenty of inspiration.
We can’t wait to host again on November 18! Register here.
