It was a beautiful Tuesday morning at Grimsby Community Preschool as we gathered to celebrate the expansion of a longtime community organization.

Grimsby Community Preschool has supported local children and families since 1971, and with hundreds of families on its waitlist, the need for additional childcare spaces was clear. To help meet that need, the Preschool has transformed two neighbouring homes into beautiful new childcare spaces, expanding its footprint while maintaining the welcoming, home-like feel that makes Grimsby Community Preschool so special.

The two new spaces – Main Street Manor and Evergreen Cottage – sit directly beside the Preschool’s original location. One will be dedicated to preschool programming, while the other will accommodate mixed-age programming. The original character of the homes has been thoughtfully preserved wherever possible, and the spaces have been thoughtfully transformed into bright, inviting rooms designed with children in mind.

During the ribbon cutting, families, educators, Board members, community partners and supporters had the opportunity to tour the new spaces, ask questions and learn more about what this expansion means for local families.

We were pleased to be joined by Mayor Jeff Jordan, and the Director of Children’s Services for the Niagara Region Satinder Klair, who both shared meaningful remarks to mark the occasion. A special thank you to our Chamber Board Chair, Daniel Vandersteen, for also welcoming guests on behalf of the Chamber, and to the Chamber members, families and community supporters who came out to celebrate. Thank you also to Councillors Veronica Charrois, Nick DiFlavio, and Lianne Vardy for being in attendance!

It was the perfect way to close out the summer and look ahead to a new school year.
