The Grimsby Chamber board formally endorses the Elect Respect resolution on January 13, 2026
Democracy is stronger when we treat each other with respect. We have signed the Elect Respect pledge ahead of our 2026 municipal elections to help build a better future for our Chamber, business and resident communities.
Endorsement of the Elect Respect resolution is explicitly non-partisan. It does not support or oppose any political party, candidate, or policy position. It focuses instead on how dialogue occurs, emphasizing civility, professionalism, and respect, regardless of differing views.
Why is this appropriate for the Chamber to endorse?
The Chamber routinely promotes respectful workplace culture and professional conduct.
Business leaders are community leaders and role models.
A healthy business climate relies on trust, collaboration, and safe participation in civic life.
Many boards are stepping forward to endorse the Elect Respect Resolution, helping to strengthen a culture of respectful, civil, and solutions-focused governance. See our logo amongst other Chamber and Board of Trade logos proudly displayed on the Elect Respect website →Boards

Connections on Tap – Holiday Edition Recap
We loved seeing so many new faces at our Connections on Tap Holiday Edition at The Judge & Jester! From the start, it was clear that new connections were being made as attendees asked great questions and shared about their businesses. Building community and engaging with each other’s services is exactly what these events are all about.
Heartfelt thanks to our table snack sponsors for making this portion of the evening possible for our guests. And for those who wore a festive sweater, thank you for spreading some holiday cheer!
A special thank you to The Judge & Jester for their warm hospitality, festive setup, and for taking care of everyone with drinks and food.
We look forward to bringing Connections on Tap to more Grimsby locations in 2026, helping you make meaningful connections, share ideas, and start the new year with great energy.

Recycling Collection Services for Non-Eligible Sources to end after December31, 2025
On November 20, 2025, Niagara Region approved the discontinuation of curbside recycling collection for Non-Eligible Sources (Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional properties), effective January 1, 2026.
Why is this change happening?
This change is part of Ontario’s changes under the Blue Box Regulation (O. Reg. 391/21). Under this regulation, producers (the companies that supply packaging and paper products) are now responsible for operating and funding the residential recycling system in Ontario. Non-eligible Sources, such as businesses, places of worship, institutions and non-profits are not part of the new Blue Box program. As a result, recycling from these properties can no longer be collected on the same truck as residential recycling.
Currently, approximately 4,375 NES properties across the region receive recycling collection through Niagara Region. Continuing this service independently would require a separate collection fleet, with an estimated annual cost of up to $3.5 million, a level that is not financially sustainable under the Region’s current budget.
What does this mean for your property?
If your property currently receives recycling collection through Niagara Region, this service will end on January 1, 2026. To avoid disruption, affected properties should begin arranging for private recycling services as soon as possible.
Properties not currently receiving recycling collection from Niagara Region do not need to take any action.
Depending on Council’s direction, continued access to Niagara Region’s drop-off depots may be available as an interim or alternative option. More information will be shared once it is confirmed. Visit niagararegion.ca/waste/landfills to stay informed and for drop-off depot locations.
Finding a Private Recycling Collector
To assist businesses and other non-eligible sources with the transition of the curbside recycling collection program, Niagara Region has compiled a list of private recycling service providers that operate in the area.
We encourage you to contact these providers directly to discuss service options, pricing, and availability. This list is provided for informational purposes only and is not exhaustive. Niagara Region does not endorse or recommend any specific service provider.

Celebrating Maple Mindset’s Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
We were honoured to host an intimate and truly meaningful ribbon cutting ceremony for Maple Mindset on Wednesday, Nov 26 evening. Surrounded by family, dignitaries, and members of our Chamber community, Danielle celebrated an incredible milestone: three years of business in Grimsby in her warm, welcoming space.
We were pleased to welcome Mayor Jeff Jordan, Councillor Reg Freake, and Councillor Don Howe, along with Chamber Board members Daniel Vandersteen and Tammy Snow-Johnston, all joining in to show their support.
What made the evening especially beautiful was Danielle’s family coming together to celebrate her success. The space itself reflects everything Maple Mindset stands for: comfort, compassion, grounding, and the genuine healing energy Danielle brings to her clients every day.
Ribbon cuttings like this remind us why these celebrations matter. Taking the time to acknowledge your growth, your courage, your service, and the impact you have on others is vital, and we’re grateful to be able to honour our members in this way.
Congratulations, Danielle, on three years of Maple Mindset! We can’t wait to see what the next chapter brings!
If you’re curious about Maple Mindset or looking for support in your own wellness journey, we encourage you to connect with Danielle and experience her beautiful space and services.

November 18 Chamber Spark Recap
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our final Chamber Spark of 2025! We had an incredible group out on Tuesday, November 18 – familiar faces from the last Spark event and many new members stepping into the Grimsby Chamber community for the first time. It was wonderful to welcome you all!
We wanted to call out that this round of elevator pitches was truly outstanding. Every introduction captured not only what your businesses do, but your personalities too – clear, confident, and engaging. Thank you for bringing that level of energy and intention to the room
We were also excited to learn that a number of attendees are already collaborating with each other. Seeing those connections form and grow is exactly why these events matter, and it’s an honour for us to help facilitate those relationships through Chamber programming and membership.
A sincere thank-you to Board Members, Daniel Vandersteen and Larry Chartier, for hosting the evening and offering meaningful insight into the value of Chamber involvement. And a special thank-you to Doug Sooley from Sooley’s Safety Services for sharing his experience as a Chamber member, speaking about his business, and generously sponsoring this Chamber Spark. These events simply wouldn’t be possible without support from members like you, thank you!
The networking portion of the evening was lively, intentional, and full of great conversations. We’re confident many valuable connections were made, and we appreciate everyone who contributed to that atmosphere.
If you missed this Chamber Spark, we have more opportunities coming up next week: • Connections on Tap — a festive, holiday-themed networking event (free to attend) • Ribbon Cutting at Maple Mindset — registration required as space is limited
Thank you again to everyone who continues to show up, participate, and make our Chamber networking events so meaningful. Your involvement is what brings this community to life!
